The Large biodegradable Turtle Urn is perfect for families who wish to release their loved one's ashes at sea in a unique and meaningful vessel. Designed for water burial, the Large Turtle will float briefly before sinking and breaking down naturally over time. Float time will vary depending on the weight of the ashes, weather, and water conditions. *This urn is designed for a full portion of adult ashes to provide the necessary weight for sinking. For a smaller portion of ashes, weighted material such as sand must be added to the urn in order for it to sink in a timely manner.*
Your urn can be customized with special imagery or text (see images 4-9 for examples):
1. single color - $30 (pic #9))
2. shell plus eyes/mouth (image #7/8) $50
3. fully painted turtle (images #4-5-6) - $100 (includes text on one flipper)
+text - $20 per flipper (sold separately, please email me for details)
For options 1 & 2 there are 8 colors to choose from! (Please specify your choice from last image.)
This urn was designed by me and handmade in Mexico by skilled artisans using recycled paper and plant-based glue. It is 100% biodegradable and non-toxic to sea life. Your purchase helps provide jobs with a living wage for artisans working in a traditional art form.
The turtle is an ancient and powerful image, one of the oldest symbols for Mother Earth in Native American teachings, and one of the four Celestial Guardian Animals in feng shui. In the Far East, the sea turtle, living on both land and in water, was believed to unite heaven (round shell) and earth (square underside).
