The keepsake Turtle Urn is perfect to carry a small portion of ashes into a large body of water with grace and elegance. Each urn holds about 2 oz of ashes and looks beautiful alone or in a group (for a ceremony in which several family members can participate in the release). Colors range from our classic Natural to greens, blues, purples, coral and pink... a cheerful palette to suit every taste, designed for excellent visibility in water.

The urn will float briefly before sinking and breaking down naturally over time. Float time will vary depending on the weight of the ashes, weather, and water conditions.

This urn was designed by me and handmade in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico by skilled artisans using recycled paper and plant-based glue. It is biodegradable and non-toxic to sea life. Your purchase helps provide jobs with a living wage for artisans working in a traditional art form.

Customize your urn with a name or other text for $10. The text will be printed on brown heart-shaped paper and attached to the back of the turtle.

The turtle is an ancient and powerful image, one of the oldest symbols for Mother Earth in Native American teachings, and one of the four Celestial Guardian Animals in feng shui. In the Far East, the sea turtle, living on both land and in water, was believed to unite heaven (round shell) and earth (square underside).
